On October 20, Poland began accepting applications for state subsidies for the purchase and installation of household electricity and heat storage systems. Under the new program, owners of home renewable energy installations can receive up to 19,000 zlotys in financial assistance. The total budget of the program is 1 billion zlotys.

The start of application acceptance was announced by Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW).

The "Przydomowe Magazyny Energii" program is financed from the European Modernization Fund. It provides non-repayable grants for equipment that allows households to store electricity from solar panels and use it in case of interruptions in centralized power supply.

The amount of the subsidy depends on the method of settling electricity bills and the type of equipment purchased.

  • Up to 16,000 zlotys can be received by owners of electricity storage systems that operate in the net-billing system, which is based on the value of electricity.
  • Up to 8,000 zlotys is provided for participants in the net-metering system, where accounting is based on the volumes of produced and consumed electricity.
  • Up to 1,000 zlotys can be received for the installation of a heat storage unit.
  • An additional bonus of up to 2,000 zlotys is provided for the purchase of an electricity storage system or a corresponding hybrid inverter manufactured in the European Union.

The maximum amount of support is 19,000 zlotys per one electricity consumption point. At the same time, the basic subsidy covers no more than 30% of eligible costs for equipment and installation, and for electric storage systems there is an additional limit of 800 zlotys per each kWh of nominal capacity.

The program can be used by individuals who produce electricity for their own needs and have a micro renewable energy installation connected to the electricity grid. The applicant must be a party to an agreement regulating the transfer of produced electricity to the grid.

To receive assistance, the electric storage system must have a capacity of at least 10 kWh. At the same time, its capacity must be at least double the peak power of the solar installation. The equipment must also have an energy management system (EMS) and support autonomous operation for backup power supply to the house.

For heat storage units, a minimum capacity of 100 liters is set. Subsidies will be provided only for such devices manufactured in the EU.

The program covers eligible expenses incurred starting from November 1, 2025. To apply for assistance, you must provide documents on the purchase and payment for the equipment, its installation, technical specifications, and confirmation of connection to the electricity grid.

Applications are accepted from October 20, 2026, to October 1, 2027, or until the allocated funds are exhausted. Documents can be submitted only online through the state system Generator Wniosków o Dofinansowanie (GWD). Detailed conditions are available on the official program website.

For Ukrainians living in Poland, it is important to note that simply having housing or residing in the country does not automatically entitle you to the subsidy. You must meet the requirements for the prosumer, the connected energy installation, and the equipment. No special preferential conditions for citizens of Ukraine are provided in the published rules.

The Polish government expects that the development of home storage systems will reduce electricity consumption from the grid and increase the energy autonomy of households. According to the Ministry of Climate and Environment, in June 2026 there were approximately 150,000 home storage units in the country. By the end of 2027, their number is planned to be increased to over 200,000.
